Commissioned by Herefordshire Primary Care Trust, our brief was to develp a neglected courtyard garden within the Stonebow Unit - the centre for people with mental health problems.
We collaborated with local sculptor David England, who produced a beautiful water feature and some free-standing sculptures.
The planting included a screen so that patients using the garden could do so in privacy. This screen was made up of Ginkgo, Amalencier and Bamboo. Ferns and grasses were used to soften the edges of the stone sculptures, whilst colour was provided by a mix of Rudbeckia and Echinacea. Raised beds made from sleepers were filled with colourful climbers, including Hydraengea Petiolaris and Parthenocissus.
